Bronze Too Expensive? Try Copper Patina Tile Instead

Bronze is a highly sought metal. Its finish is very exquisite. It immediately screams a timeless flavor and a classic design. Furthermore, once incrusted with ornate and intricate embossments, bronze becomes a work of art that will reap a lot of pride for its owner. The problem with bronze, however, is that it's expensive. Few people can afford this metal, more so when a lot of it is desired to used for home applications.

Thankfully, copper provides a great alternative. These days, a copper patina tile is one of the more popular decorative surfaces that homeowners desire for the walls or floors of their own homes.

There are a number of reasons why a copper patina tile is the perfect substitute for bronze. It can also be argued that copper tiles are actually better than their bronze cousins. Let's take a look at these reasons...

* The color of copper darkens after the passage of time. It takes on a dark bronze color, and often, it is mistaken for real bronze. Hence, copper is a great substitute for the prized metal. The darkening of a copper's tone can be expedited through some oxidation processes.

* Copper is so much cheaper than bronze. This alone makes copper a worthwhile alternative to their more costly counterpart.

* Copper is just as durable as bronze, if not sturdier. Copper is actually more resistant to the accumulation of unsightly dark spots that makes its incrustations unintelligible.

* Copper is easier to maintain. With regular polishing, its luster can be preserved. Bronze needs deeper polishing to keep it shiny.

* Copper is more malleable. It can be manipulated to form a variety of shapes. Even its texture can be fabricated. The same cannot be said about bronze. Bronze has to be heated at maximum temperature before it can be shaped.

Because of its distinctive properties, there are more varieties of copper patina tile being produced today. Copper is a more workable material. It allows the incorporation of more design elements. Its malleability alone makes it easier for the artisan to create those intricate incrustations that will make every copper patina tile truly unique.

In addition to the foregoing, these tiles don't have to share a general design. You can mix and match different tiles to come up with something that definitely unique. Such is the beauty of working with copper tiles... coming up with your own combination is part of the adventure.
